Accounts

Accounts represent where your money is held: checking, savings, credit cards, cash, investments, and more. Keeping them organized is the first step toward a complete financial picture.

Creating a new account

Adding an account takes less than a minute and lays the groundwork for recording all your transactions.

  1. 1 Open Accounts from the sidebar.
  2. 2 Click New Account in the upper-right corner.
  3. 3 Fill in the name (e.g. "Chase Checking"), type (checking, savings, card, etc.) and currency.
  4. 4 Set the initial balance — the actual balance of the account when you add it.
  5. 5 Pick an icon and color so you can identify it at a glance, then save.

Tip: Add every real account you own so the dashboard total reflects your actual financial situation.

Supported account types

EzFin supports six types: Checking, Savings, Cash, Credit Card, Investment, and Other. Credit cards are special — purchases count as expenses and paying the bill becomes a transfer from your checking account to the card.

Editing or deactivating accounts

You can rename, change initial balance, switch currency, or deactivate an account at any time. Deactivating preserves history but hides it from totals.

  1. 1 Click the account name in the listing.
  2. 2 Click Edit and adjust the fields.
  3. 3 To deactivate, uncheck "Active". To delete permanently (only if it has no transactions), use the trash icon.

Bank connection (Open Banking)

Instead of registering and updating manually, you can connect your real accounts via Open Banking. Transactions are imported automatically in real time.

Tip: The connection is read-only — we can never move money. You can disconnect at any time under Accounts > Connected Banks.

Sharing accounts

You can share an account with another user (spouse, partner, accountant) to co-manage transactions. The owner sets permissions: read-only, edit, or full admin.
